Defiant as ever, Wichita-based Pro-Life activists Operation Rescue proclaim they’ve recovered from its financial crisis earlier this year. Presumably donations plunged after intense public backlash against the murder of Dr. George Tiller back in May – despite the groups clear repudiation of the accused killer, Scott Roeder. From their press release:
Recently, the Associated Press, along [...]
A few weeks back, Joe had the great pleasure of sitting for a chat with Mark Bazer, the witty and talented host of The Interview Show, a monthly talk show which tapes at the Hideout in Chicago.
As good as the video is, it was much more fun to see the show live. Talkshow + [...]
Radio host and former Cherryvale, Kansas police chief Paul A. Ibbetson finally got a look at the movie “What’s the Matter with Kansas?” a few weeks after publishing a lengthy diatribe against it which invoked both Michael Moore and Nazi propagandist Joseph Goebbels.
Christopher Renner of the Manhattan Alliance for Peace and Justice held a community screening of “What’s the Matter with Kansas?” on October 13, and he reflects on it in the Kansas Free Press. Neither of us had ever been to Oklahoma before, and Steve Hunt and David Glover, the activists who got the ball rolling, made sure we had everything we needed. [...]
“What’s the Matter with Kansas?” will take a bow once more on a Chicago screen, this time as part of Columbia College’s excellent series “Critical Encounters: Fact & Faith.” You can also sign up on Facebook.
Director Joe Winston will discuss the movie after the screening.

The Oklahoman shows some appreciation for the evenhanded tone of our movie:
Joe Winston’s “What’s the Matter with Kansas?” explores how real people live, work, think and vote in Oklahoma’s neighbor to the north. While it addresses clearly the fractures in Kansas’ body politic, it is the rare political documentary in which no one is labeled [...]
The OK Gazette has weighed in on “What’s the Matter with Kansas?” in advance of our screenings and appearances in Tulsa on Friday and Oklahoma City on Saturday. After playing to big-city crowds in Washington, D.C., New York and Chicago, we’re eager to hear from audiences in the heartland. This reviewer clearly takes the idea [...]
