“We’re so broke, we can’t even pay attention,” quipped Troy Newman, head of Operation Rescue, speaking to the Associated Press. The Pro-Life activist group based in Wichita, KS is apparently on the brink of shutting down, for lack of funds. He’s just sent out a desperate letter to supporters, adding that he’s working without pay. Apparently donations are down 30-40% since Scott Roeder shot and killed Dr. George Tiller on May 31.
Since that awful tragedy, we have maintained that one big loser in the ensuing controversy would be the Pro-Life Movement. Operation Rescue’s travails suggest that violence against abortion doctors undermines the entire movement’s legitimacy, making a mockery of “Pro-Life.”
