We’re excited at “What’s the Matter with Kansas?” to introduce a new blogger to our project. Jesse Lava will be our main contributor in the coming weeks so Laura and Joe can focus on bringing the film to a town near you. By all means, leave your comments and let us know what your thoughts are on his fascinating musings to come.
Jesse is a Chicago-based political activist with a focus on morality in the public square. Now a PR consultant for progressive organizations, Jesse co-founded Faithful Democrats in 2006 and served as its director until 2008. He was previously the right-hand to former Democratic National Committee Chair David Wilhelm, account executive for Wilhelm & Conlon Public Strategies, and a staffer on political campaigns in South Dakota and Kentucky. Jesse’s writing on faith and politics has appeared in publications such as The Progressive Christian, Next-Wave, Ethics Daily, and The Covenant Companion. His civic commitments include Democratic Leadership for the 21st Century, Public Action for Change Today, and the Christian social justice group Zeteo.
Jesse graduated from Wesleyan University and will be starting a dual degree program in public policy and theological studies at Harvard University in the fall of 2009.
